ZHONG CHENG

司徒立 SZETO LAP (b.1949)

Szeto Lap was born in China, he moved to Hong Kong in 1972, and later to Paris in 1975. Since the beginning of 1980, he participated in multiple group and solo exhibitions. He exhibited at the L’Oeil Sevigne Gallery in Paris and “Peintures a L’Eau” exhibition at the Grand Palais. In 1981, he received first place in drawing at the “Prix Lubiam” in Italy, and was invited into Galerie Calude Bernard of Paris. In 1982, he participated in group exhibitions at Pompidou, and “IN SITU” exhibition at the National Museum of Contemporary Arts. He also won the “Prix Feneon” from the Academy of Paris. During 1986-1989, he held solo exhibition at both Hong Kong Institute for Promotion of Chinese Culture and Taipei Lion Gallery. Szeto Lap was a guest lecturer at the Central Academy of Fine Art in China, and member of the editorial staff for “Twenty-first Century” magazine of Chinese University of Hong Kong. From 1994 to 1995, he participated in Paris group exhibition and held solo exhibition at Galerie Elegance in Taipei. His works are now in the permanent collection of museums in France and Italy. The Guangda Art Gallery was established in 2015 and Szeto Lap became its lifelong curator.
